Hungarian president returns health amendment to parliament for reconsideration
Budapest (MTI) – President János Áder on Friday returned to parliament for reconsideration an amendment changing Hungary’s health and health insurance laws.
Under the changes, passed by parliament on November 22, health authorities would have been granted the power to enter and search any facility on their own, without the consent of the owner. The authority would have the power to question the owner or employees, as well as to search vehicles.
Those changes, if signed into law, would ensure powers that could impact the consitutional rights of citizens, without warranting that the authority’s actions would always be purposeful and proportionate, Áder said in a letter to parliament.
