Budapest, April 29 (MTI) – Tobacconists can take off foil from windows, head of the ruling Fidesz party’s parliamentary group Antal Rogan said on Wednesday, in response to the contention that the murder of a shop assistant in a tobacco shop may have been prevented had the windows not been papered over.
He told public radio Kossuth that no regulation currently prescribes foil on the windows of tobacco shops.
Commenting on the prime minister’s remark concerning the possibility of canvassing public opinion on restoring the death penalty, Rogan said if the public of an EU member state so wishes, it is free to raise the issue of the death penalty at the level of the Union.
Viktor Orban raised the issue of capital punishment in connection with the recent murder of the shop assistant in Kaposvar.
Rogan also noted that ever since the Fidesz government had introduced a three-strikes law, the prison population had grown by around 7,000.
