Serbian human smuggler apprehended near border
Budapest, December 20 (MTI) – Police have arrested a Serbian national on suspicion of attempting to smuggle nine illegal migrants across the Hungarian-Serbian border, a spokesman for the Csongrad County police department told MTI on Sunday.
Gergely Varkonyi said that on Saturday police were getting ready to check a car with a German license plate in the border town of Roszke. When the driver saw the patrol officers, he jumped out of his car and ran off. Police found a total of nine Eritrean and Somali migrants in the car. The patrol officers eventually caught up with the 25-year-old man and arrested him, Varkonyi said.
