Szijjarto, Tehran mayor discuss Hungary-Iran ties
Budapest, September 18 (MTI) – Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Friday met Tehran mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to discuss Hungarian-Iranian cooperation.
The two were in agreement that Budapest and Tehran play key roles in the development of bilateral relations.
They agreed on further developing educational and cultural relations. The foreign ministry said that currently 1,000 Iranian students pursue their studies in Hungary, adding that Hungary wants to attract even more students in the future.
Qalibaf is in Hungary to prepare Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s planned official visit to Iran in early October, the ministry said.
Szijjarto briefed the mayor on Hungary’s migrant crisis, of which Qalibaf expressed his understanding.
