This is what the Hungarian side of the internet was curious about in 2014
Who and what are Hungarians googling? If you ever wondered, what are other people looking for on the internet, the answer is here for you! Provided by Google, the annual list of the most popular searches shows what interested net users most all over the world, reports Vilaggazdasag.
The Hungarian list features Való Világ 6 (the latest season of a Hungarian reality show), the football world championship and the elections. The most searched-for personalities were Michael Schumacher, Conchita Wurst and Aleska Diamond, but the recently deceased Hungarian actor, Imre Bajor has also evoked the interest of the country. On the international list, Robin Williams ranked first, the world championship second and ebola was the third most popular googled word.
The interactive logo depicting a Rubik’s cube was the 3rd most popular among the festive Google logos in 2014. This is the first time that Google provides charts, diagrams and additional information about the most popular searches, so that users can explore the whole story behind the biggest stories of the year, adds vg.hu.
Google summarizes the thousand millions of words typed in its search engine and by listing the most popular ones, it visualizes the state of each country and the general interests of the whole world. The searches are measured in two ways: in addition to the most frequent words, Google identifies the ambitious new personalities, curiosities and the new favourites of the world, by using a complex statistic method. Google is looking for the new „buzzwords” by filtering out searces that show a sudden increase in popularity compared to the results of the previous year, and also kept that interest steady. The company uses anonymous, statistically totalized informations when creating the lists.
The spread of internet has changed the way we gain information, writes vg.hu. Our activity on search engines sheds portrays this change: there are hundreds of billion searches conducted on Google every month. Still, 15 searches out of 100 are unique, meaning that no user had ever looked it up before.
