Januar (MTI) \u2013 Der Bolyai-Janos-Preis der Ungarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften f\u00fcr Mathematik wurde am Mittwoch in Budapest an Barry Simon, Professor am California Institute of Technology, \u00fcbergeben.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Der US-Professor wurde f\u00fcr seine Arbeit Orthogonal Polynomials on the Unit Circle aus dem Jahr 2005 ausgezeichnet.<\/p>\n<p>Der Bolyai-Preis wird zur F\u00f6rderung von Autoren verliehen, deren Arbeit die n\u00e4chsten Generationen von Wissenschaftlern beeinflussen k\u00f6nnte, sagte Akademieleiter Laszlo Lovasz in seiner Ansprache bei der Preisverleihung.<\/p>\n<p>Der Bolyai-Preis wurde 1902, anl\u00e4sslich des 100-j\u00e4hrigen Bestehens des ber\u00fchmten ungarischen Mathematikers, gestiftet, aber nach Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs eingestellt, der Preis wurde 1994 als einzige internationale Auszeichnung der ungarischen Akademie, die alle f\u00fcnf Jahre verliehen wird, wieder ins Leben gerufen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Foto: MTI<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Budapest, 6.
