Prende ispirazione dai castelli medievali della Valle della Loira. Questa gemma architettonica fu commissionata da Gyula Andr\u00e1ssy Sr., il ministro degli affari esteri pi\u00f9 longevo della monarchia austro-ungarica tra il 1880 e il 1885. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale, il castello sub\u00ec notevoli danni a causa dei saccheggi, e in seguito serv\u00ec come scuola per gli studenti di trattori. Alla sua inaugurazione, il castello vantava servizi moderni come acqua, illuminazione a gas, telefono e sistema fognario, anche se in particolare mancava di cucina.
