Gourmet revolution in Hungary: Michelin chef, Balaton flavors, and artisanal burgers at Time Out Market Budapest

Change language:

The wait is nearly over for the debut of Time Out Market Budapest, the latest addition to the city’s culinary scene. The food and culture hub will open its doors later this year on the first floor of the iconic Corvin Palace at Blaha Lujza Square. Spanning nearly 27,000 square feet, the market promises a one-of-a-kind lineup from the start.

More big names join the lineup

The Time Out Market aims to bring together the best restaurants, chefs, drinks, and cultural experiences from Budapest and the surrounding region—all under one roof. The list of vendors has just expanded to include major names such as CANTEEN by Pesti István, Casa Christa, Bigfish, Tuning Burger, and Wines of Hungary.

Michelin-starred chef István Pesti of Platán Gourmet in Tata is taking a fresh approach to classic Hungarian cuisine at his new CANTEEN concept, according to Time Out. The menu will feature reimagined traditional dishes like goulash soup, Wiener schnitzel, and chicken paprikash—all served with Michelin-level refinement.

Casa Christa will spotlight the flavours of the Balaton Uplands, featuring fresh fish, regional specialities, and dishes made with local ingredients. Seafood lovers can look forward to creative offerings from Bigfish, while Tuning Burger will serve premium hamburgers made from Angus, Omaha, and Wagyu beef. Wine enthusiasts aren’t left out either: the wine bar by the Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency offers tastings from all 22 wine regions of Hungary, guided by professional sommeliers.
