Cardinal Péter Erdő, archbishop of Budapest-Esztergom, and former First Lady Dalma Mádl, goodwill ambassador of the Hungarian Catholic Charity, gave customised presents to 250 poor children on Monday.
Christmas gives us the opportunity to “rise above everyday life and realise that our life is a gift, too,” the cardinal said at the ceremony.
“We are to be grateful for that gift and use it to the glory of God and to benefit other people,” he said.
The gifts were put together by charity staff from donations, with regard to the age and interests of each recipient.
