Government earmarks EUR 25m for revamping Budapest roads
The government is allocating 8.7 billion forints (EUR 25m) for revamping roads in Budapest districts where the city mayor scrapped or curbed reconstruction monies during the state of emergency, the prime minister’s chief of staff said on Wednesday.
Gergely Gulyás told a press conference in the 16th district that the government spent considerable funds on Budapest’s development each year.
Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony scrapped significant amounts from the budget of the capital’s 16th, 17th and 21st districts, which will have to rely on government support for reconstruction works, he said.
The government is also supporting road construction and other developments in districts 10, 20 and 22, he added.
