Government launches new programme to support Hungarian businesses
The government is launching a new programme to support Hungarian businesses that commit to investing at least 560 million forints (EUR 1.6m) to save jobs in view of the coronavirus pandemic, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Saturday.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, the minister said the European Commission had given approval to Hungary supporting businesses that commit to making investments in order to save jobs without an upper limit.

Applications for funding can be submitted from next week, until the end of September. The investments must be implemented in the following two years.
The amount of the support can reach up to 50 percent of the investment amount, Szijjártó said, that is 280 million forints in the case of an investment of 560 million.
Szijjártó said Hungary had successfully completed the first phase of its epidemic response efforts, the one that involved health care defence, and is ready to fight the second phase, the one about economic defence, in cooperation with Hungarian businesses and people.

The aim of the programme is to help companies retain jobs and create new ones, he added.
