House Speaker László Kövér on Tuesday inaugurated Peter Polt as the public prosecutor for another nine years, the public prosecutor’s office said.
Kövér said in his speech that Polt considered it especially important that Hungary should be actively involved in justice cooperation with countries both inside and outside Europe. Cooperation with the prosecutors of other Visegrad Group countries had never been more balanced than during Polt’s term in office, he added.
Polt said that Hungary’s prosecution office was again in the forefront of Europe.
Polt’s re-election was proposed by President Janos Ader and approved by parliament on November 4.
He also held the post between 2000 and 2006.
