Hungarian police units to serve on Serbia, North Macedonia border
The Hungarian police has sent a 29-strong unit to North Macedonia and 10 officers to Serbia to assist local forces in border protection, the police’s official website said on Tuesday.
The units will report to local law enforcement and use their own equipment, police.hu said.
This will be the 71th contingent to serve in North Macedonia and the 59th in Serbia, the website said.
The Hungarian officers will mostly patrol the border to prevent and investigate illegal border entries, and will cooperate with local forces in arresting people smugglers and illegal migrants, it said.
