Wages to increase at Hungarian universities
The wages of some 50,000 employees of Hungarian universities run by the state, foundations and churches will have increased by a total of over 30 percent in January on the back of two hikes in 2021 and 2022, the ministry of innovation and technology said.
Â
József Bódis, the state secretary in charge of higher education, innovation and vocational training, said the latest 15 percent hike in January was needed to guarantee the increasing competitiveness and the high standards of modern education in Hungarian universities.
Â
The state is providing 64 billion forints for wage increases in 2022 alone,
Â
he added.
Â
“We are working to ensure that young Hungarians become winners of the future, and we are spending unprecedented amounts on higher education,” he said.
