Hungary has become a climate champion?
The numbers show that the Hungarian government’s green policy has proven effective, Justice Minister Judit Varga told a roundtable discussion on Tuesday.
Varga said the opposition parties “have no answer” to the data which she said proved that “Hungary can be considered a climate champion”. She argued that Hungary had overfulfilled its commitments for 2020 by reducing its CO2 emissions by 33 percent as against the date of reference.
Innovation and Technology Minister László Palkovics said Hungary had already achieved its 2030 climate goals and would also be able to reach its 2050 goals. But until then, Hungary will have to tackle the task of reducing its emissions, the minister said.
