Hungary’s missile defence system purchase timely after over 40 years, says minister
As Hungary’s current missile defence system is over 40 years old, it is time to replace it, Defence Minister Tibor Benkő said referring to a declaration of intent he had signed with US Ambassador in Hungary David Cornstein last week to buy advanced missile system components from the United States.
The missiles will be purchased at first and talks are under way on the acquisition of launchers and locators, Benkő told public Kossuth Radio.
Hungary is not alone in seeing the need to buy arms, he said.
The purchase is also supported by NATO but the decision was first of all motivated by national interests, he said.
As we said before, Hungary to buy USD 1 billion anti-aircraft system dubbed National Advance Surface-to-Air System from the United States.

Big, Big Mistake. When WW3 comes and it is coming, You have painted a bullseye on Hungary. Buying anything from the US is wasteful because it has a reputation for failing in critical situations. Please cancel the deal and buy a better reliable system from Russia if you really feel like Hungary needs an air defense system. Hungary hitching its wagon to the US is a very bad choice and it means when the US looses WW3 and they will loose that Hungary may well for the 3rd time in the past 100 years suffer greatly for no good reason. Hungary should even consider becoming a neutral country and leave NATO.
Jack Russell believes that if you are attacked and defend yourself you are painting a bullseye on the Country. Total nonsense. The countries that are usually attacked are the ones that have not made preparations to defend themselves. As to the BS that when the US “loses WW3” we heard that before. All those who tried went down. Anyone who bets against America is an idiot.
If the government was serious about looking after its people it would be spending money on creating a world class healthcare system to replace the decrepit shambles that exists now. It does not need expensive military hardware that is only going to rust away in some bunker somewhere.
