Hungarian Justice Minister Judit Varga called it “morally irresponsible” on the part of Brussels “not to focus on solving problems as soon as possible, but to waste time on ideological debates”, after talks with Ana Paula Zacarias, Portugal’s state secretary for EU affairs, on Friday.

Varga said on Facebook that she had told Zacarias the European Union urgently needs to help member states most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

As Portugal will hold the EU Council’s rotating presidency between January-June 2021, key issues such as migration and the European climate policy have also been discussed, she said.
