A shipment of 140,000 doses of the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine will arrive in Budapest shortly after midnight, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon.
The shipment will be used as a second shot for people who had already received their first Sputnik jab, he said.
“The government’s cargo plane is on its way to Russia to perform its seventh eastern mission within two months”, the minister said.
Szijjártó called the purchase “another move in the fight against the epidemic towards Hungary becoming the first European nation to start a re-opening”.
Tamás Menczer, the state secretary at the foreign ministry for communications and international representation, said that all Hungarians inoculated with Sputnik have got and would continue to get the second jab in time.
