Russian man arrested at Ukrainian-Hungarian border pending possible extradition
A Budapest court has ordered that a Russian man arrested on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border near Tiszabecs, in eastern Hungary, should be detained for 40 days pending possible extradition.
In a statement on Monday, the Metropolitan Court said
it was acting on an international arrest warrant against the Russian citizen issued in connection with a March 2015 homicide.
Since the suspect has not consented to a simplified extradition procedure, the court will decide on further action pending a full extradition request accompanied by additional information at a new trial, the statement added.
Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County police said on Saturday that
a Russian man wanted by Interpol had tried to enter Hungary at the Tiszabecs border crossing by road.
