Ten further universities to be operated by Fidesz-dominated foundations
Ten further Hungarian universities will be managed by foundations from August on, the innovation and technology ministry told MTI on Sunday.
In a statement, the ministry said that the move was aimed at motivating the higher education system and its players to produce better and internationally recognised results. So far, 11 universities have been operating under the new model, they added.
The ten universities
include the Budapest Economic University, Debrecen University, Budapest’s Semmelweis University, as well as the universities of Szeged and Pécs.
Parliament passed legislation in April this year to transfer the management rights of universities to public foundations.
