This was the last gift of the Hungarians to Jean-Paul Belmondo!
The French legend received a bottle of Hungarian wine from world-famous boxer László Papp’s son.
According to borsonline.hu, they met first in 1958 December. Belmondo said after the match that he was very sorry for Papp because the Hungarian communist regime baulked his career and did not let him compete in the world championships. They would have had dinner together, but there was not enough time. Belmondo boxed, as well, and said in an interview that the French like box matches because they fancy strong hits.
Belmondo was a fan of Papp because the Hungarian boxer was strong, technically skilled, and cunning.
