- This summer we could experience extreme weather conditions in Hungary and what’s more, even bigger temperature changes are expected for the last days of August. For the second half of the week, Arctic air masses bring extremely cold and rainy weather to Hungary, as a result of which nearly freezing temperatures can be expected in the coldest parts of the country. - Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Thursday that he would propose to the general assembly to withdraw its approval for the city to host the 2023 World Athletics Championships. Details HERE.

- The United Hungarian Jewish Community (EMIH) is preparing for the autumn Jewish holidays with cultural, religious and family programs from August 27 to September 5. After long decades, the synagogue of Újbuda and the prayer house on Vörösmarty street are re-opened. The holidays await participants with many programs. Programmes HERE.
- A 39-year-old man raped a young Swedish girl in an apartment in the 7th district of the Hungarian capital in 2019 October. It was difficult for the police to find him, but yesterday his court trial started. Read more HERE.
