Vogue photoshoot in Hortobágy – Hungarian cowboys in Dior suits
A video was shot in Hortobágy, Hungary, featuring the so-called Hungarian cowboys, a.k.a. Csikós. Imagine the Great Hungarian Plain, horses, Csikós, and Christian Dior all at once. The project was done by L’Uomo Vogue, a special edition of the Italian Vogue, hvg reports.
Vogue is a fashion and lifestyle magazine, also covering topics like beauty, culture, living, and runway. It used to be a weekly newspaper (first issued in 1892) in the United States, before becoming a monthly publication years later. The British Vogue was the first international edition launched in 1916, while the Italian version has been called the top fashion magazine in the world. There are 23 international editions today.
The Vogue video Hungarian Csikós features only men, three of them wearing the traditional blue Csikós clothing, while others are wearing the newest collection of Christian Dior suits in various colours: blue, brown and orange. The video also features characteristic symbols of The Great Hungarian Plain: the karikás ostor (bullwhip), wild horses and hay-bales. Check out the video below:
Western media seems to like the Hungarian cowboys-theme, as CNN also published a video of the same theme last year. However, CNN’s video did miss out on the Dior suits; it presented the lifestyle of Hungarian cowboys instead. The video was watched 211,000 times in the first 24 hours, and it got over 51,000 reactions on Facebook.
