French hypermarket chain Auchan fined HUF 1bn
Budapest, March 23 (MTI) – Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) has fined Auchan Magyarorszag 1 billion forints (EUR 3.3m) for abusing its dominant market position.
GVH found that Auchan had arbitrarily charged about three-quarters of its non-food suppliers a fee for listing its products in its inventory in 2006-2014. This practice is against Hungary’s retail laws, GVH said in a statement on Monday.
Auchan Magyarorszag booked an after-tax loss of 12.5 billion forints on revenue of 277.4 billion last year, public records show.
