More and more concerts are given in Hungary, according to Artisjus’s database. In 2018, 22,050 concerts were organised while the year before that, this number was 20,007. Considering that in 2016, 18,656 concerts were registered, we can say that a steady rise can be observed when it comes to live concerts.
Hungarian news portal Index revealed the surprising statistics that the song that was the most often played live last year is a song from 1980.
The song is called ‘Csókkirály’ (King of Kissing), sung by Miklós Fenyő and the band Hungária.
The statistics reveal that in 2018, 91,853 songs were played live in Hungary. In popular music concerts, only 9% of the repertoire was new music not older than two years, while in the case of classical music, it was even lower, only 7%.Â
It seems like Hungarian music’s popularity is increasing, as in 2018, 77.26% of the songs played at concerts were by Hungarian musicians, slightly higher than the year before (74.58%). However, a third of Hungarian songs was only played live once in one full year. Moreover, half of Hungarian songs were played four times max in 2018.Â
