Social networks free the voice of youth!

Our world is ultra-connected, “addicted” to mobile and adept at video. The proliferation of networks allows rapid and global dissemination of content, measured or radical ideas. The quarter of an hour of fame turns into a permanent struggle to develop its own audience.
With the Internet, communication and access to information take place anywhere, without delay outside of space and outside of time. Almost everywhere on the planet, we are also talking about the appearance of “tweetomania” (compulsive use of Twitter). This new relationship to digital breaks the codes to which previous generations were accustomed.
Faced with this new world, the new generation no longer hesitates to react at the given moment and to share its opinion online or on a blog. Everything is going very fast! You need to know everything right away. In haste, sometimes, the reflection is not at the rendezvous and leaves an imprint and the traces of the interactions.
The Web: a revolutionary change?
No, the Web did not invent anything strictly speaking. At least not to create relationships between humans. What the Internet has changed is the scope of these relationships: yesterday we were discussing with loved ones, family or friends near home. Today, we can get in touch and exchange with the whole world in just a few seconds. What has changed is therefore the medium, the support, the tool thanks to which the connection between these people will be made: this now happens around an application or a social network. There are many things that are facilitated by the Internet with the proliferation of news sites, new social media, new shopping platforms, and many more. What we see today is a continuation of the Internet boom of two decades ago.
The Internet influences society, opinions…
The numbers speak for themselves! 5 billion Internet users in the world, 80% are active on social networks (more than half of the world’s population), growing by 7% over one year. Today, there are 11 new social media users every second, and almost 1 million people a day take their first steps on social networks.
The typical Internet user spends about 6 hours a day using internet-connected devices and services, which is about a third of their time outside of their sleeping hours! In this race for the audience, the citizen, on the Internet, is not a passive consumer, on the contrary we see that public expression has never been so massive in real time.
A new space for debate
Indeed, without a doubt, digital technology shakes up thoughts, creates debate, exchange in the moment in a more underhanded way, in a concealed way, more insidious and which can also act maliciously with others. The influence is indirect, but can sting. Internet gives the possibility today to diffuse in a different way its opinion, its thought. Digital technology opens the way to change and the evolution of mores. It mobilizes and plays a role of influence within society, of controversy and propaganda.
