8 new direct flights from Budapest Airport
From the second half of 2016, eight new destinations will be available without transfer from Budapest Airport; other airlines are scheduling more frequent flights, making it easier and faster to arrive in places like New York, Chicago, Miami, Punta Cana or Varadero, mmonline.hu reports.
Airberlin started their third direct flight to Berlin in March. Susanna Sciacovelli, vice president for sales at airberlin says that the new flights offer favourable alternatives for all passengers. The morning flight is suitable not only for tourists but for one-day business trips as well, or it can be used as a transfer flight to European cities like Krakow, Funchal, Faro, and Olbia, or to US destinations, such as New York City and Chicago.
Balázs Bogáts, head of flight development at the Budapest Airport says, they are expecting heavier traffic between Hungary and the USA. The new airberlin flight is significant since 130 thousand people on average travel to New York City each year, and there is an increasing interest in US cities, while Berlin remains a favourite destination among the people.
Berlin, one of the most culturally diverse cities in Europe, offers opportunities for entertainment and relaxation as a holiday destination, but it is also an economic and business centre, and companies wishing to expand towards the West will also benefit from the frequent flights.
The number of direct flights from Budapest Airport is also growing. From June, passengers will have direct connection to Toronto, Ibiza and Thessaloniki, and during autumn, new flights will be scheduled to Bucharest, Sofia, Nuremberg, and two cities of the Canary Islands, as well.
