Jobbik’s president confronts PM Orbán in Parliament

Press release – Jobbik’s president Gábor Vona asked the PM about his migration policy and the ongoing smear campaign, then challenged him to a debate. There was no real response.

Mr. Vona asked the Prime Minister in the hour of questions requiring an immediate answer in the Parliament’s Monday session. Jobbik’s president wanted to know what changed in Fidesz’ migration policy, pointing out that the government, instead of withdrawing the residency bonds, opened yet another sales office in Iraq, thus sending the message to ISIS terrorists that if it’s just too hot for them there, they might as well come to Hungary.

Jobbik’s Constitutional bills are regularly turned down by government MPs while Mr. Orbán keeps holding on to the resolution of the Constitutional Court even though it actually concludes that an amendment would be necessary. In Mr Vona’s view, PM Orbán will travel to Brussels as a fallen politician with an invalid referendum and a failed Constitutional amendment in his bag. Finally, Jobbik’s president noted that Fidesz launched the basest ever smear campaign against him.

“Is the money so important, is the loot so important?” he asked.

Meticulously evading the issue of the residency bonds and the dealings of the Habony Media, Mr Orbán responded as much that Fidesz’ migration policy remained unchanged, they still considered the fight against immigration and migrant allocation quotas a national issue, while Jobbik lowered this national issue to a partisan matter. “We side with the Hungarian people and we will protect Hungary with you or against you, too,” he said.

Mr Vona once again brought up the media hype issue and emphasized that even though Mr Orbán kept spreading the rumour in Parliament that Mr Vona threatened him in their one-on-one meeting that they would attack the PM through his family, Jobbik would never do such a thing. He called upon Mr Orbán to step sending messages through [transvestite performer] Terry Black or have Árpád, the good worker [Árpád Habony, the PM’s alleged advisor] manage the PM’s affairs and step up for a public political debate instead, something which Mr Orbán had been avoiding in the past 10 years.

“Do you still know how to fight fair or do you stick with mudslinging forever?” he turned to the Prime Minister. In his response, Mr Orbán did not refer to a public debate or Habony’s media. Instead, he said that Jobbik did not vote for his Constitutional amendment therefore the party failed the exam and Mr Vona was practically applying for a re-take exam. “There is no re-take exam, I cannot accept your application,” the PM concluded his speech.
