Audi Launches Production of Next-Generation TT Roadster in Hungary
November 5 (MTI) – German carmaker Audi launched production of the third-generation TT Roadster model at its plant in Hungary today.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Audi AG chairman Rupert Stadler and Audi Hungaria managing director Thomas Faustmann spoke at the ceremony.
Hungarian companies supply 60 percent of the new model’s content.
Orban said at the ceremony that Hungary “is by now impossible to imagine without Audi and its car production activities here.”
He noted that the German company had made use of Hungarian suppliers since 1986, and even then Audi had seen that “there is a lot more to Hungary and Hungarians than communism condemned us to be.”
He said Audi did not try to take away Hungarian knowledge and talent but it understood that “we Hungarians can and want to perform exceptionally in our own country.”
