Fidesz Maintains Strong Lead Against Fragmented Opposition
Budapest, July 2 (MTI) – Fidesz has maintained its strong lead over opposition parties, notching up 37 percent of support among all voters in Nezopont’s June poll.
The radical nationalist Jobbik party had 11 percent support, the Socialists 8 percent, the Democratic Coalition (DK) 4 percent and the E-PM party alliance 3 percent, the poll said. Green party LMP was backed by 4 percent.
Among decided voters declaring themselves certain to vote, Fidesz led by 47 percent against Jobbik’s 19 percent and the Socialists’ 14 percent. LMP and DK each had 7 percent support in this group. E-PM followed with 6 percent.
The sample showed that 59 percent of Hungarians would turn out at polls were elections held now.
The poll commissioned by the weekly Heti Valasz was taken on June 16-28 with a representative sample of 1,000 voting-age adults.
