Forint broke record on Friday

European Commission European Union forint Hungarian economy

Hungary’s forint broke the 400 HUF/EUR currency exchange level for a short while yesterday around 5 pm. Unfortunately, today it is above 400 again.

Hungarian media refers to the 400 HUF/EUR limit as a psychological threshold even though before, people felt they would not endure even a 350 HUF/EUR exchange rate. The forint was at around 400 HUF/EUR on 10 November for the last time, napi.hu wrote.

Meanwhile, two weeks earlier, 1 EUR cost 420 forints. Thanks to the good news from the European Commission regarding the possibility that Hungary may get billions of euros from the development and RRF funds of the EU, the forint could strengthen again before Christmas.
