Government to launch campaign on risks of EU’s migrant relocation scheme
Budapest (MTI) – The government is preparing to launch a campaign on the risks of the European Union’s mandatory migrant relocation scheme, the state secretary for government communications said on Friday.
Bence Tuzson told public news channel M1 that the 4.9 billion forints (EUR 15.5m) that has been allocated for the government’s migrant quota referendum does not include the costs of the planned campaign, adding that the government has yet to decide how much it intends to spend on it.
The state secretary did not elaborate on the details of the campaign.
He said it is the government’s duty to inform the public about the dangers of the EU’s migrant resettlement plan. “Brussels must understand that Europe cannot be turned on its head,” he said. The continent is made up of independent nation states, and the EU must accept their decision, Tuzson added.
