Hungarian explorer poisoned in the Amazon rainforest?!
Hungarian explorer Geri Csóka loves to travel, explore less-traveled places and get to know everything in a new country. In his own words, South America and Amazonia are his eternal love. He has been three times so far, but he still cannot get enough of it even if these expeditions might put him in mortal danger. Learn more about Geri’s latest experience below!
During his last visit, Geri had taken part in a tribal cleansing and healing ceremony in Peru. This includes being injected with the poison of a frog. He felt the effects immediately, but he would have never guessed what came next.
Geri, the Hungarian explorer
Csóka Geri is a true daredevil globetrotter, as proven by his tattoos as well. Even though Geri rarely looks up his destinations, this time he did do some research on his latest destination. Sadly, he did not find much about the Ayahuasca and Kambo indigenous rituals. All he knew about them was that they were physically and mentally cleansing.
“Maybe if I had known what’s coming, what it’s going to do to me, I’d have passed on it.” – Geri shares his story with Bors. – “I’m in contact with an indigenous family in the jungle, they took me to the site of the ceremony. First, I was sailing for hours on the Amazon River, followed by a short tuk-tuk ride to the banks of the Napo River.
It was a beautiful trip. This is the place where indigenous people and their ancestors have lived for thousands of years. The Kambo ritual also dates back just as long. The ritual is the medicinal use of the poison of the Kambo or Sapo frogs. Their poison is extremely effective, reports Healthline.”
Explorer in danger
The Hungarian man first had to chug two litres of water, followed by half a litre of fermented yucca juice. Then the tribe’s healer burns small holes in his skin where he would then smear the Amazonian frog’s venom.
“In retrospect, the first part wasn’t all that bad. My cruel night started with the second so-called Ayahuasca ritual. What happened there was beyond my wildest and most terrifying dreams.” – Geri continues.
The plant substance that was injected into my system caused an incredibly strong hallucination. I didn’t know what was real, and what wasn’t. I could see myself dying as if I was in a nightmare. My mother and I share a close connection. I can turn to her with about everything. So after a while, I started screaming after her because I remembered that if I died I would never see her again.”
When the tribe asked Geri what I needed, I said my mother. She wasn’t there. As the visions intensified, he saw her in everything. She was moving away from him as the man was trying to catch up.
What Geri perceived as a dream, was all real. He accidentally ran into the shaman, without even perceiving it. The force was so great, that the shaman had his face hurt in three places. Geri also cut himself to the bone during the nearly ten hours of suffering.
“Of course, I was supervised, so I wasn’t supposed to get hurt. I would certainly not recommend this ritual to anyone who is not in harmony with themselves. Don’t let the journey turn into something terrible!” the explorer ends his account.
