Hungarian sportsmen mainly had drug problems
Since 2010, sixteen sportsmen have been investigated in connection with drug abuse; they mainly used marihuana, according to Magyar Nemzet.
The police has conducted drug related investigations against sixteen sportsmen since 2010 – wrote Magyar Nemzet on Monday in its most recent issue, citing the National Police Headquarters as a source.
Since 2010, all but one cases involved the use of marihuana or its active ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The article pointed out that police reports do not yet include the names of those three kayakers who were found guilty of using cocaine earlier this year.
There was only one registered cocaine using case back in 2013.
Although the Hungarian Anti-Doping Group (HUNADO) is not required to report if a sportsman has a positive drug test, the police is forced to launch an investigation if they get word of such a case.
