Hungarians live their lives in only 3 apartments
According to hvg.hu, Hungarians do not like to change their address card more frequently than 20 years. Based on a 2015 research of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), most Hungarians live their lives in only 3.4 apartments. In fact, this number is a bit bigger in case of people living in the cities. Consequently, it is a bit lower in case of those who live in smaller settlements.
The average Hungarians spend 10 years in one apartment
In truth, it is not worth to sell and buy apartments frequently in Hungary because of the high related costs. One should calculate not only with the sale price and the renovation of the newly bought apartment. He or she should also take into consideration the cost of advertisements, move and finally, the selling of the apartment.
According to experts of Bella Real Estate Agency,
their customers calculate with 5-10 years in case of a new apartment.
This is especially true now since real estate prices have been increasing for long. Experts say that their customers can be divided into three groups. Firstly, there are the more conscious ones who already calculate how they can sell their apartments later. Secondly, there are those who just simply fall in love with the apartment they choose to buy. Consequently, they do not worry about the details or the future.
The third group consists of those who just
became bored with their apartment.
The main reason behind moving away in these cases is that they did not receive what they expected. Most of these people are those who moved to the agglomeration, and after a couple of years, they want to move a bit closer to the city. According to experts, in these cases, it can be good to rent an apartment in the chosen village first. Only if the new place is not disappointing them, should they buy the chosen house.
The house grows with the family
According to HCSO, most Hungarians buy first a single-room flat which they sell after 10 years because the family grows. The other reason for the change is that they have to move because of a new job. After children start their own life and leave the family home, most people sell their big house or flat to move into a smaller one.
Of course, there are some who try to
buy a bigger flat first and live there until they can.
The other important reason behind moving is getting a new job. This is especially true nowadays to those people who come to Budapest to work for better wages.
