Jobbik finds government’s “self-promotion” too expensive
Budapest, April 28 (MTI) – The government’s plans to spend a total 15.6 billion forints (EUR 48.5m) on “communication and consultations” as outlined in the 2017 budget are unacceptable for radical nationalist Jobbik.
Dániel Z Kárpát, Jobbik’s deputy leader, told a press conference on Thursday that the government seeks to increase funding for its “propaganda ministry” by ten times, and noted that the prime minister’s cabinet office is financed from only 1.7 billion forints this year.
Z Kárpát suggested that ruling Fidesz would finance its election campaign from those funds and said that businesses “very close to the government” would benefit.
The billions at stake are “tangibly missing from schools where they cannot buy chalk or hospitals without proper cleaning materials”, Z Kárpát said.
