This is how the Hungarian “Freedom Fighter” statue comes alive in Georgia
This year the Hungarian American Coalition would like to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution with a new statue in Georgia showing that the spirit of the 1956 revolution will never be forgotten.
On gofundme.com they wrote that the 1956 revolution in Hungary “revealed for the first time, the true and terrible face of communism to the world. By creating a new statue to honour our 1956 freedom fighters, we will erect a permanent reminder of this historic time in history.”
That is a unique opportunity for families to
donate in memory of a freedom fighter or to honour a relative and have their name displayed forever in bronze
– they added. The project seems successful since it started on August 16, but it already collected more than half the required sum. However, there are still thousands of dollars needed for the completion.
