Újpest and Fehérvár to contest Hungarian Cup final
Ten-time Hungarian Cup winners Újpest will hope to earn an 11th success when they take on MOL Fehérvár in the Puskás Aréna on 3rd May.
Head coach Imre Szabics’s MOL Fehérvár recovered from an early MTK goal by Szabolcs Schön to book their place in the final on Thursday evening, courtesy of goals seven minutes either side of half-time from Bendeguz Bolla – his first for the club – and Hungarian international striker Nemanja Nikolic.
One day earlier, an early second-half strike from Újpest forward Giorgi Beridze proved to be the difference between the Budapest club led by Dutchman Michael Oenning and hosts Kisvárda in the first semi-final. The final will take place in Hungary’s national stadium, Budapest’s Puskás Aréna, on Monday 3rd May.
