Viktor Orbán sends condolences to Hungarian blues legend Egon Póka’s family
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sent a letter of condolences to the family of bass guitarist Egon Póka, the PM’s press chief said on Friday.
Póka, who died at 68, “was talented enough to succeed anywhere in the world … but he stayed and played to us Hungarians,” Bertalan Havasi cited Orbán as saying.
“To him, music was passion rather than work,” Orbán said. His calling was fulfilled in founding the Kőbánya Music Studio where he trained young talents, Orbán said.
Póka’s family and fans held a commemoration at Várkert Bazár on Friday, World Music Day.
