Ryanair raised the number of its Budapest flights
During the winter season Ryanair will also have flights on the Budapest-Berlin route (Air Berlin and EasyJet are the two other airlines that have flights on that route), and the company will have one flight per day to Nurnberg, Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair’s marketing director said during a press conference, vg.hu reported.
Ryanair will have 110 flights altogether to 19 destinations from Budapest, including the three new flights to Billund, Gran Canaria, and Malaga in the winter season; also, the number of weekly flights to Brussels and Rome will increase from seven to nine.
The Irish low-cost airline expects a passenger growth of 250,000 people, which would mean that 1,8 million people will travel to or from Budapest using the companies flights, which has 16% of the market share. Its biggest rival, Wizz Air, currently holds 28% of the shares, and the number of their passengers who traveled to or from Budapest was 2,9 million in 2015.
There’s a significant difference between the two companies’ starting date which explains the gap between the two airlines’ number of passengers globally; while Wizz Air had 19,2 passengers in 2015, Ryanair had 108 million on average. Despite these differences these two companies offer the cheapest flights: the average price of a flight is €47 at Ryanair, and €60 at Wizz Air.
