Orbán cabinet expresses its condolences to Russia for the attack in Moscow

moscow attacks russia

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó phoned Sergei Lavrov, his Russian counterpart, on Saturday to express his “deepest condolences” over the terrorist attack on a concert hall that killed at least a hundred people on the outskirts of Moscow during the previous night.

He told Lavrov that Hungary resolutely condemns the attack in which innocent people had been killed, according to a foreign ministry statement.

Hungary stands with those mourning their loss, Szijjártó told Lavrov. “Those are in our prayers, and we wish a swift and full recovery to those who were injured in the terrorist attack,” he said.

Lavrov told Szijjártó that Russian authorities would do everything they could to round up those responsible for the terrorist attack. The Hungarian minister Szijjártó said that in a new development the Islamic State terrorist organisation had claimed responsibility for the attack and 11 of the suspected perpetrators had been detained.

Szijjártó told his Russian colleague that Hungary condemns “in the strongest possible terms” every form of terrorism and will continue to participate in international anti-terrorism cooperation.

He said the ministry had not received information about Hungarian victims or casualties. Szijjártó makes no mention of the Russian bombing, which terrorises Ukraine on a daily basis.

Hungary stands up for peace at the UN General Assembly, but not for Palestine

Szijjártó United Nations

Hungary continues to stand for peace, dialogue, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister said in New York on Monday, adding that the country opposed all forms of terrorism.

Hungary has borne the consequences of the war in Ukraine for more than two years and protected the external borders of the European Union against illegal migration, bound “in a vicious circle” with terrorism, Szijjártó told the UN General Assembly, according to a ministry statement.

Given these immediate security challenges, Hungary “is committed to peace, diplomacy, continuous global dialogue, and is against all forms of terrorism,” he said.

He expressed Hungary’s mounting concern over the conflict in the Middle East, saying the longer the conflict lasted, the greater the risk of its spreading. The minister added that Hamas “must be defeated”.

Szijjártó emphasised the importance of preventing the formation of a Lebanese front in the conflict, adding that the Beirut government, which wanted nothing to do with it, deserved maximum support from the international community.

He also said the delivery of humanitarian aid should be guaranteed to ensure that innocent people do not suffer the consequences of the brutal crimes of terrorists, calling on states and international organisations to do whatever possible to achieve this.

The minister praised Egypt in this regard. He also noted that Hungary provided more than 9 million US dollars to support its health system.

On the subject of the hostage situation, he urged the immediate, unconditional release of hostages, and expressed gratitude to Qatar for mediating in the release of three Hungarian hostages. He asked Qatar to carry on its efforts to ensure the quickest possible release of the other hostages, details HERE.

A sensible agreement was needed between the opposing parties before the start of Ramadan, he added.

Meanwhile, he said Hungary was “a strategic partner of Israel” while also keeping strong ties with Arab countries in the region. “As a responsible country, Hungary is ready to play its part in finding an appropriate solution to security crises worldwide,” he added.

Hungarian government spends billions in South-East Asia

Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s foreign minister, has called on the European Union to declare the Houthis a terrorist organisation and to help the Yemeni government strengthen its coast guard.

The funds necessary for this are available in the European Peace Facility, Szijjártó on Facebook on Friday.

Unless the European Union and Western countries take firm action, Szijjártó said, “European economies and businesses will have to reckon with this factor of uncertainty for a sustained period.”

“The Western world sat on the fence for a long time and unfortunately did not recognise the seriousness of the threat posed by the Houthis. Thus in recent weeks traffic accounting for 15 percent of world trade was endangered off the coast of Yemen due to the attacks of the Houthis,” Szijjártó said.

Szijjártó noted that the Houthi rebels were constantly attacking cargo ships and the duration and the costs of maritime freight trade from Asia to Europe have increased significantly, as these ships now have to bypass the entire African continent.

He said this was an increasingly serious problem for several Hungarian businesses, too, since deliveries are not arriving on time, and shipment costs are also increasing.

World trade should be protected

“The world cannot let this organisation of rebels endanger the freedom of world trade to such an extent. The European Union must also take steps, since it would not be good if the economies of the European Union were to experience even more difficulties in addition to the challenges they are already facing,” the minister said.

The foreign ministry said later that Szijjártó on Friday held talks with nine of his Asian counterparts, including Indonesia’s Retno Marsudi, Yemen’s Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, Madagascar’s Rafaravavitafika Rasata, Philippines’s Enrique Manalo, Thailand’s Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Cambodia’s Sok Chenda Sophea, Brunei’s Erywan Yusof, Bangladesh’s Muhammad Hasan Mahmud and Laos’s Saleumxay Kommasith.

Indonesia important player

Szijjártó posted several updates about his talks on Facebook throughout the day. Concerning Indonesia, he said bilateral trade with the Southeast Asian country reached a record 280 million dollars last year.

Since Indonesia is becoming an increasingly important player in the global economy, this record trade turnover has a clear positive impact on Hungary’s foreign trade as well, he said. He also welcomed that more than 1,500 Indonesian university students have applied for Hungarian scholarships this year.

Szijjártó said Indonesia had submitted its application for OECD membership, which Hungary supported because it was a boost to the organisation. He said the OECD was “one of the increasingly few international organisations” where fairness, impartiality and being free of ideologies “are still considered values”.

In his post about Madagascar, Szijjártó said this had been the first-ever meeting between the two countries’ foreign ministers.

“At the same time, we share more common issues than we would think…” he added. He noted that Madagascar had been the guest of honour at Hungary’s Travel Exhibition last year, and that Hungary was contributing 40 million forints (EUR 104,300) to an afforestation scheme on the island.

Meanwhile, Szijjártó said that the centre of gravity in the global economy had shifted from West to East, adding that the EU’s interest lay in “building the closest possible economic cooperation between East and West”.

Billions invested in South-East Asia

That was why, he said, Hungary would focus on developing as close ties as possible with Southeast Asia during its EU presidency in the second half of this year.

He vowed to speed up talks on a free trade agreement with Thailand, restart those talks with the Philippines, re-enter into talks on a partnership and cooperation agreement with Brunei, start talks on such a deal with Bangladesh, support Cambodia applying the most-favoured nation treatment in its trade with the EU and sign an investment protection agreement with Laos.

According to the ministry, Hungary has invested 125 million dollars into developing Laos’ water industry and electronic administration. In Cambodia, more than 300 students have applied for Hungarian scholarships, while last year’s trade turnover with Bangladesh came to a record 100 million euros. Meanwhile, Hungary has agreed to boost its food exports to Thailand and the Philippines, the ministry said.

State secretary Azbej talks about Christian persecution in Europe

azbej tristan

The law on the Hungary Helps humanitarian aid programme has been amended to allow broader Hungarian contribution in economic development and peace-making as of 1 January, the foreign ministry’s state secretary overseeing the scheme told public broadcaster M1 on Wednesday.

“The amendment allows Hungary to strengthen its role and better enforce solidarity with Christian communities as well as to represent the concept that help must be provided where the problems are,” Tristan Azbej said.

He said Christianity had become the most persecuted religion in the world, with some 5,000 followers murdered each year. Around 80 percent of the attacks occur in Nigeria, Azbej said, noting that “Jihadist, Islamist tribes” had mounted attacks on 20 Chirstian settlements and killed some 200 Christians around Christmas.

The state secretary said that the few reports covering the event in the western press had presented it “as an attack by shepherd tribes against farming villages”. “They failed to mention that behind the attacks were according to information Jihadist tribes trained and armed by the Al-Kaida Islamist terror organisation,” he added.

“It is important to break the silence, the disinterest and the denial and to say out loud that this is Christian persecution,” said Azbej, cautioning that “Islamist terrorism is now present in Europe”.

Terrorist attack in Ukrainian region populated by Hungarians

Based on the latest census, more than 150 thousand Hungarians lived in Transcarpathia. Though many of them fled after the start of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, tens of thousands remained. This is the region where a terrorist attack happened today afternoon. Here is a reader’s letter about it, which we received two hours ago. We’ll update our article whenever new information emerges.

On Friday, 15 December, in Transcarpathia, in the building of the Krechkovsky (Kerecke in Hungarian – DNH addition) village council, a deputy exploded grenades during a meeting. As a result of the explosion, more than two dozen people were injured. The incident hit the Net in a broadcast on Instagram. The incident was reported by the police of the Transcarpathian region.

The published video (it is not for the faint-hearted, impressionable please avoid watching) captured the moment as a man enters the room and stands at the door. The man, later identified as Serhiy Batrin, a deputy from Vladimir Zelensky’s Servant of the People party, tries to draw attention to himself, after which he takes two grenades out of his coat pockets and throws them under the feet of the audience. Two explosions sounded, the room was filled with smoke, and then a third clap sounded. The video captured the terrifying screams and cries of the wounded. The last seconds of the video show that the deputy did not plan to flee, and remained in place.

Later it was reported that during the meeting, there was a discussion of the budget for 2024.

At present, there are 26 victims, six of whom are in serious condition. Medics are carrying out resuscitation measures with regard to the man who exploded the grenades. According to other sources, he died.

It is reported that all specialised services, a police investigation team, explosion technicians and criminalists are working at the site.

The National Police of Ukraine qualified the incident as a terrorist act“, the letter goes.

Below you may find the 18+ video shared by the police department of Transcarpathia:

According to open-source data, there are no Hungarian families living in the settlement.

UPDATE

The attacker was a member of Ukrainian President Zelensky’s political party, the Servant of the People, index.hu wrote.

Wanted terrorist arrested in Hungary

Terrorist apprehended in Hungary

A Turkish man, aged 23, wanted for murder and belonging to an armed terrorist organisation has been apprehended in Hungary in the act of people smuggling with an accomplice, the Zala County police said on the police.hu website.

Local police tried to stop a van on road number 76 near Sármellék, western Hungary, on 16 November but the driver deflected and tried to flee after driving away and stopping on a minor dirt road.

The van he abandoned included ten illegal migrants who identified themselves as Turkish citizens.

The Turkish driver, aged 27, was apprehended a few days later near Székesfehérvár, along with an 23-year-old accomplice who had also been involved in people smuggling with a follow-up vehicle.

Zala police started a procedure against both and the court ordered their pre-trial detention.

The investigation revealed that the younger man was wanted by Turkish authorities for possessing a gun, committing murder and activities as member of a terrorist organisation.

Government working on the release of 2 more Hungarian hostages

hamas

Hungary is working for the release two possible Hungarian hostages, who are male, in addition to those already let go from the Gaza Strip, once women and children are set free, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister, said on Monday in Brussels.

At the press conference after a meeting of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council, Szijjártó welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas which had afforded the release of hostages and saved lives.

Hamas has made it clear that only women and children would be released for now, and three of five abducted Hungarian citizens have been set free accordingly, he said.

Szijjártó noted the “multiple times” he had spoken with his Qatar counterpart, who had assured him of his assistance and had provided constant updates on the state of the negotiations. Hungary, he added, was grateful.

Though Budapest knew the names of the Hungarian hostages on the list, “we didn’t make this public as doing so would have jeopardised the success of the operation…” he said.

Information about the release of hostages were only made public when they were “already safe on Israeli soil,” he added.

While there were two men of Hungarian citizenship “definitely” still in the captivity of Hamas, “we don’t know about any of them in terms of their location…” he said.

“The longer the ceasefire, the better, given the higher chance that as many innocent people as possible may be freed from the captivity of Hamas,” Szijjártó said.

As we wrote yesterday, Hamas released another group of hostages on Sunday, two Hungarian children among them, details HERE.

Hungarian defence minister: Chad security vitally important

chad hungary mission

Chad is the only stable state in the Sahel, and it can be seen as “an exporter of stability” in the region, the defence minister said, adding that its security was of special importance to Europe and Hungary.

After talks with counterpart Dago Yacouba, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said the fact that Yacouba’s first visit abroad since he entered office took him to Hungary showed that both countries considered cooperation as a matter of strategic importance.

The ministers signed an agreement on military cooperation prior to the press conference.

The Hungarian government is determined that problems must be resolved where they arise, and has therefore decided to play an active role in preserving Chad’s stability, he said. As part of a complex support package,

a mission of 200 soldiers will be sent to Chad.

They will offer training and mentoring to the Chad army in the fight against terrorism, and with a view to reducing illegal migration, he added.

Hungary will play special attention to EU participation in the Sahel during its presidency of the European Union Council.

Yacouba said developments in the Sahel had an effect on world peace, and Chad needed help from the EU, Hungary and Africa in order to cope with numerous challenges such as terrorism, smuggling and illegal migration. Cooperation between Chad and Hungary is crucial for establishing peace, he added.

Hungarian government demands release of Hamas’s Hungarian hostages – UPDATE

United Nations Hungary Szijjártó

Hungary’s government demands that Hamas release its Hungarian hostages and that the international community do everything in its power to secure the release of those abducted from Israel by the terrorist group, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in New York on Monday.

Speaking ahead of a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Szijjártó noted that thanks to the joint efforts of Israel and Egypt, the Hungarian citizens who had been stuck in Gaza and wanted to leave had been successful evacuated. He also underscored the importance of minimising civilian casualties in the conflict.

In the video on Facebook, the minister also noted that Hamas was holding five Hungarian citizens hostage. “Therefore we can’t accept any declaration, decision or resolution that doesn’t explicitly and clearly call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages,” he said.

“We demand that Hamas release the hostages and that the international community do everything it can to secure their release,” Szijjártó added.

Meanwhile, he emphasised the importance of Egypt’s stability, calling the north African country one of Europe’s “main bastions of defence”, given Cairo’s key role in curbing migration pressure.

Szijjártó said he will also meet leaders of the UN’s counter-terrorism body as well as the under-secretary-general responsible for African relations.

Meanwhile, addressing the issue of migration, the minister said the Hungarian authorities last year prevented 275,000 illegal entries and more than 170,000 so far this year, adding that the migrants coming to Hungary’s borders were increasingly aggressive.

“This is, unfortunately, a direct consequence of Brussels pursuing a migration policy that encourages and inspires migration, and constantly fuels the business model of people-smuggling rings,” the minister said. “We have to put a stop to this, because it will have tragic consequences.”

Szijjártó said migration pressure on Europe originating from Africa would become “unbearable” later on if it was left unaddressed. This requires Europe to combat terrorism, as it is one of the root causes of migration waves, he said, noting that this was why Hungary was sending 200 soldiers to Chad in the interest of upholding the stability of the Sahel region. Details: Hungarian government to send military mission to Africa

The minister also underlined the need to bring economic development to the region. “That’s why it’s important that Europe bring developments and investments there that will create jobs, instead of attracting migrants from Africa,” he said.

He noted that Hungary is providing 140 million dollars in tied aid to Africa in addition to carrying out 30 million dollars’ worth of social development schemes. Hungary also supports the survival of Christian communities in 18 countries and offers scholarships to 1,425 students each year to study at Hungarian universities, he added.

Meanwhile, Szijjártó said Hungary’s foreign policy was “highly respected” on the world stage because the government pursued “an honest and sovereign policy”.

“So when it comes to Hungarian foreign policy, everyone knows full well that its rules are written in Budapest instead of being dictated from somewhere else,” he said. “And this sovereign Hungarian foreign policy is indeed respected here in New York, in the UN and on the world political stage.”

Joint efforts from the international community can prevent Middle East escalation

A united effort from the international community can prevent conflict escalation in the Middle East, and the countries in the region could return to the hopeful path towards peace carved by the Abraham Accords, Szijjarto said.

It should not be forgotten that the current conflict began with a “really brutal terrorist attack” a month and a half ago, Szijjártó told an informal session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a ministry statement.

Preventing a repeat of “such a heinous attack” was in the interest of not just Israel, but the entire world, he said, adding successful actions against terrorism were also a global interest.

Highlighting the Hungarian aspects of the situation, Szijjártó said the Hungarian citizens who had been stuck in Gaza and wanted to leave had been successfully evacuated. He expressed thanks to his Egyptian and Israeli counterparts without whom, he said, “it would not have been possible to evacuate those 14 Hungarian citizens who wanted to leave the Gaza Strip”.

He also called for the immediate and unconditional release of the five Hungarian citizens held hostage by Hamas. For this reason, he said, Hungary could only accept resolutions, decisions and statements that called for the immediate release of those being held captive.

Meanwhile, Szijjártó underlined the critical need to preserve Egypt’s stability, calling the north African country “one of the major bastions of European security”.

While the international community asks Cairo to take in everyone fleeing Gaza, it should also contribute to preserving the country’s stability, he said, noting that Hungary has offered 100,000 euros in aid to Egypt for the procurement of medical supplies to treat those who have fled Gaza.

Szijjártó said Europe was facing severe security challenges, and the situation in the Middle East had a direct impact on the entire continent.

Hungarians, he said, therefore had a vested interest in the peace and security of the Middle East. He said that in the short term, the international community must do everything possible to prevent escalation and an interstate war in the region.

“Because if this action against terror becomes war between countries, then in the Middle East it would have absolutely … unpredictable consequences, which I think none of us would like to see,” he said, urging members of the international community to “behave very responsibly”.

In the long run, Szijjártó said, it was important to return to the principle of the Abraham Accords which were “the best attempt to offer hope” for peace in the Middle East. He asked the signatories of the normalisation agreements and those “who plan to be part of it” not to give up and to “try to come back to the Abraham Accords”.

“And we do believe that if we join our forces, then we can avoid escalation … in the Middle East, and we will be able to come back to a hopeful path of ensuring that all people in the Middle East can live in peace and under a stable situation,” Szijjártó said.

Latest poll: Hungarians worry about Islamist terrorism and sympathise with Israel

Palestine Israel Flag gaza

Respondents in a recent survey have expressed sympathy with Israel and “there is significant concern” about Islamist terrorism among the general population, pollster Századvég said on Monday.

The survey results put “Israel’s popularity index in the positive range” while 94 percent of those asked had heard about the Hamas organisation’s slaying more than 1,000 civilians on Israeli ground, it said.

According to Századvég “the Hungarian population is definitely critical about anti-Israeli public figures” with “the popularity index of Hungarian and EU politicians supporting Palestine and Hamas is strongly negative”.

Fully 87 percent of respondents said they were concerned that “Islamist terrorism could resurface in Europe in the near future”.

Report on migration–terrorism connection made public in Hungary

terrorism migration report

The secret service report on the connection between migration and terrorism has been made public, Máté Kocsis, group leader of ruling Fidesz, said on Facebook on Thursday, adding that the report “clearly shows the risk the irresponsible migration policy of Brussels poses to the security of Europe”.

Kocsis said that well-known terrorist organisations such as ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Hamas were already present on the Serbian-Hungarian border.

He added that more and more information about terrorist acts targeting Europe was being generated in the region.

Kocsis also said the Taliban are also present in Vojvodina, and that many people smugglers were related to Afghan Taliban government leaders and members of the Haqqani terrorist group linked to them.

He said that acts of violence and the use of weapons had become regular occurrences at the border.

“We must act against terrorism by all means! The EU must support Hungarian border protection! We need a new migration policy in Brussels!” said Kocsis, who also shared the link to the secret service report.

Secret Hungarian report about terrorism, migration to be published

Máté Kocsis, group leader of ruling Fidesz, on Monday proposed in parliament’s national security committee that a report assessing the connection between illegal migration and terrorism, compiled by the secret services, should be made public.

The body supported the proposal and the document will soon be published, Kocsis said on Facebook. Kocsis said the situation along Hungary’s southern border with Serbia “clearly shows how Brussels’s irresponsible migration policy has increased the threat of terrorism” and noted “the increasing appearance of weapons” in the area. Violent, armed attacks compromising the security of border control staff “have become a daily occurence,” he insisted.

“We will use every facility against terrorism!” Kocsis said in his post. Here it is:

Hamas present in Hungary: their agent worked from Budapest

Hamas agent worked in Budapest

According to a Bangladesh-based newspaper, Hamas has had an agent in Budapest for years. He was laundering and collecting money for them.

The present situation with Hamas in Gaza brings up tons of questions. One of the most urgent ones is their funding. Where do they get it from? How can it be sanctioned? Experts have delved deep into Hamas’ background to try and dig for this information. What they found is rather troubling.

The most prominent donors of Hamas are Qatar and Doha. However, Hamas relies on other incomes too. Such as donations from Palestinians, charities and drug trafficking.

Read more news about Hamas HERE and HERE.

For their drug trade, they formed an alliance with Zulkarnain Saer, a jihadist terrorist. He has been running restaurants in Hungary for the last couple of years. (Khan Curry House among others.) According to Hírklikk, the restaurants served as a front for the money laundering and as a meeting point for people linked to illegal activities.

Speaking of illegal activities, here’s an interesting correlation. Remember the 2016 explosion in Budapest, which injured two policemen? That terrorist act was two weeks before the poll of the controversial referendum regarding the migrant quotas. People immediately connected the two happenings and experts have thought it most likely that the explosion was a radical islamist attack. What no one suspected was that the plan for this attack was hatched in the Khan Curry House. Which, as we’ve mentioned above, is owned by none other than Zulkarnain Saer.

Also known as Zulkarnain Saer Khan, Zulkarnain Sami, and Tanvir Md. Sadat, he has been trying his best to evade the authorities. He was so dedicated to this that he even changed the legal name of his father, making it harder to find his previous criminal records. The weeklyblitz.net article has released all of his personal information, including his passport number, his ID and even the name of his second wife. These informations give a perfect example of just how good he was at finding loopholes.

He was in the middle of relocating since he founded a company in England just over a year ago. The end goal to this was to move his assets, his drug trade and money laundering scheme and his criminal connections to England from Hungary.

Hungarian citizens also taken hostage by Hamas in Israel

Israel

The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has acknowledged that the Hamas terrorist organisation has taken two Hungarian citizens hostage.

Hetek interviewed a Hungarian-Israeli mother whose two daughters were abducted by Hamas terrorists on 7 October. The latest information she has about her children is a video of them sobbing on a mattress.

The girls were staying with her ex-husband and his family when the terrorists abducted them.

A video was later obtained by the woman. It was recorded with her daughter’s phone by the terrorists. They shot her ex-husband in the leg and then took his older son. As the adolescent was uncooperative, the terrorist organisation executed him and his parents, while the two girls, Ella and Dafna, were taken along.

Later, the mother also received a photograph of her daughters sitting on a mattress in captivity, dressed in prayer clothes by the terrorists, with the caption in Arabic that Dafna is ready for prayers, as reported by telex.hu.

“We are in constant contact with the mother and the special task force set up by the Israeli authorities. The children hold dual Hungarian-Israeli citizenship, and we are doing our utmost to secure their release. However, for security concerns, we are not in a position to share any more details with the public. To date, there are still no Hungarian victims of the terrorist attack,” stated Foreign Affairs Spokesman Máté Paczolay.

Hungarian governing Fidesz presents a declaration against Hamas and illegal migration

Palestine Israel Flag gaza

Ruling Fidesz will next week submit a political declaration to parliament stating that the legislative body condemns Hamas’s terrorist attack against Israel and expresses its sympathies to the victims, Máté Kocsis, the party’s group leader, said on Facebook on Sunday.

The Fidesz document says Hungary condemns terrorists and is on the side of the victims. The victims of terrorism have the right to defend themselves and do whatever it takes to prevent another attack, it says.

Hungary recognises Israel’s right to self-defence, but an interstate war must be avoided, the declaration says, calling for the preservation of the Middle East peace process generated by the Abraham Accords.

It also points out that uncontrolled migration into Europe poses the risk of migrant groups being infiltrated by the agents of Hamas and other terrorist organisations.

BREAKING: Slovenia introduces border controls at Hungarian border

Border control

Due to the terrorist threats in major European cities, Slovenia has also decided to suspend the Schengen agreement and introduce border controls at the Hungarian and Croatian borders.

Border controls in Slovenia

Slovenian Interior Minister Bostjan Poklukar confirmed to N1 television that Slovenia will suspend the Schengen agreement. As a result, border controls will be introduced at the Hungarian and Croatian borders.

The Hungarian and Croatian interior ministers were informed of the announcement. The Slovenian government may approve the measure on Thursday, which will later be sent to the European Commission.

Like Italy, the measure is justified by the growing terrorist threat in Europe. “We see what happened in France and Belgium. Slovenia is no exception,” Poklukar warned. The start date for border controls is still in question, and talks are still ongoing with the EU Commission.

The Slovenian minister said that they are trying to guarantee Slovenia’s security and want to have the least problems for border crossers.

Terror threat in Europe

Recently, two people were killed and one injured in Brussels before a football match. The incident has raised the terror alert to its highest level since 2016. A teacher was stabbed to death in France over the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Shortly afterwards, bomb threats were made at the Louvre and Versailles.

The Counter-Terrorism Coordination Committee has also met in Hungary. In the Committee’s view, the information on terrorism and terrorist acts in the framework of operational and partner cooperation between law enforcement agencies does not justify a change of the medium terror level in Hungary, which has been in place since March 2016.

Slovakia has also introduced border controls due to illegal immigrants. The Hungarian-Slovak border is currently closed until 3 November, index.hu reports.

Hungarian politician: Government’s stance on migration vindicated by Brussels shooting

terrorism brussels

Reality has once again vindicated the Hungarian government “and delivered a stinging slap in the face to Western politicians who want to shut their eyes and decide whom we should live together with from their well-protected offices in Brussels”, a lawmaker of the co-ruling Christian Democrats has said, referring to a deadly shooting in Brussels on Monday.

In a statement, István Simicskó, the party’s parliamentary group leader, cited reports of a suspected Tunisian gunman who killed two Swedish nationals in the Belgian capital.

“This time, two people fell victim to the terror fuelled by extremist religious hate,” Simicskó said, adding that families had lost their loved ones, and friends and communities were now mourning. It was with “this horrible act” that the terrorist “expressed his devotion to the Islamic State terrorist group,” he said.

Hungary resists migration pressure and has taken physical and legal steps to protect Christian Europe, the lawmaker said.

Hidvéghi: Mass migration poses life-threatening danger to European people

Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said that mass migration poses a life-threating danger to European people, and called for immediately terminating talks in Brussels on the EU’s new migration pact and starting new talks on a whole new basis, on Tuesday.

The situation created by migration in Europe cannot be tolerated any more, he said. Migration must not be supported but stopped, border protection must be reinstalled and the security of Europeans must be guaranteed, Hidvéghi added.

He said that the recent “slaughtering of two people by an immigrant with a Kalashnikov” in Brussels and the stabbing of a teacher by an illegal migrant in a school in front of other teachers and students in France begged the question “how many more innocent Europeans will have to die to make the immigration-fanatics in Brussels stop pushing migration?”.

“It is now clear that illegal immigration poses a life-threating danger to ordinary law-abiding European citizens and endangers public security and the European lifestyle to a degree unseen before,” the MEP said.

“This must be stopped! Instead of expressing regret in the aftermath of the deadly acts and laying flowers, concrete steps must be taken to protect the life and everyday security of European people,” Hidvéghi said.
