Even ancient people were getting tattoos. They believed that art on their body serves as an amulet, that it influences their faith and protects them from illnesses. This kind of body art is still popular. However, many different myths and misconceptions have developed over the centuries-long history of tattoo evolution. Tattoo artist from Vean tattoo, will help you to find the truth.
Myth 1: Tattoos hurt a lot.
— Tattoos are not too painful, mostly just unpleasant. Of course, everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but getting a tattoo is not as scary, as a client can imagine. By the way, there are multiple lifehacks that will help you to feel less pain. Especially if you take tattooing responsibly and come to the session well-prepared. First thing you should do is have a good sleep. Also, before the session you must eat something, and you shouldn’t drink alcohol, coffee and energy drinks. In case a client is very afraid of pain, I would recommend placing a tattoo on a less sensitive body part.
Myth 2: Tattoo cover-ups are dangerous to health.
— There is no danger in covering up a tattoo which, for example, you don’t like anymore, or which was done badly. I would even say that it is esthetically necessary, so a piece of body art is at least pleasing to the eye. By the way, different pigments can be used for the cover-up.
Myth 3: Tattoos are a sign of an ex-convict.
— This phrase can be usually heard from an elderly generation. And indeed, back in the past tattoos were only attributes of prisoners and sailors, or a sign of ethnic tribes. Nowadays, body art is truly an art. For example, I’m very happy that young generation has a positive attitude towards tattoos. However, I strongly recommend that you choose your sketch carefully and find out the meaning of this or that symbol, picture, and so on.
Myth 4: You can sunbath after a tattoo session.
— You shouldn’t sunbath right after a tattoo session. You can only do it after the tattoo is fully healed. I would recommend waiting at least a month. Moreover, you should be using skin care products. For example, it is necessary to use cream containing SPF while you are out in sun. The tattoo shouldn’t be exposed to direct sunlight. You also need to cover your tattoo for some time. This way it will keep its initial appearance and will be a delight for you for a long time.
Myth 5: Anyone with an art degree can tattoo.
— Most probably they can. But will it be a quality work?! The thing is that academical knowledge is not enough to become a tattoo master. You need to have basic medical knowledge as well. Besides, you need to understand the process of tattooing itself. That’s why if you have a degree in art, and you are good at drawing, it does not mean that you will be able to make a neat tattoo.
Myth 6: Black tattoos quickly turn blue.
— If a tattoo was done at a studio, and the master was using modern ink, quality equipment, and did not put the pigment in too deep, then it will most probably happen, but not in the near future. Body art needs to be taken care of, corrected and renewed.
Myth 7: For the tattoo aftercare it’s enough to use baby cream or Vaseline.
— It’s better not to do it. For example, Vaseline has dense structure. If it is applied to skin, the skin is not ‘breathing’. That’s why the healing process will be long, we slow it down by applying Vaseline. Same goes for baby cream. It’s better to use professional tattoo aftercare products. It’s only needed for moisturizing the skin anyway. Our body does a great job of healing on its own.
