On August 7, the connection between Ukraine and Hungary was resumed. Hungary lifts travel restrictions for Ukrainians. Due to the spread of the coronavirus, we could not cross the border freely. Especially since there is a visa-free regime between the countries.
Entry requirements to Ukraine from Hungary have a list of documents:
- Biometric passport/visa (If you have a passport without biometrics, you will need a visa or a biometric passport. But this is more for Ukrainian tourists. A passport issued in Hungary is valid without a visa. A visa may also be required if you plan to stay in Ukraine longer than allowed. Foreigners entering Ukraine from visa-free countries can stay in the country for up to 90 days for 180 days (if your work, treatment or other circumstances force you to stay in Ukraine for a longer period, you will need a visa);
- Medical insurance (Certificate confirming your insurance and stay in the country is valid for the entire period of travel, regardless of age, every foreigner must take out an insurance policy. The insurance company must be registered in Ukraine or have a contract with a partner company that issues insurance policies of a foreign insurance company. Another important point is that the insurance contract must include an insurance item stating that the insurance covers the costs of the COVID-19 period. This includes treatment and the cost of isolating the patient if such an insured event occurred).
- Vaccination certificate PCR test or certificate of recovery: If such documents are not available, citizens of Ukraine, Hungary, and all other guests of Ukraine must install the VDOMA Mobile Application and stay on self-isolation for 14 days.
- Money in your account/cash (when entering Ukraine you may be asked to provide information on whether you have a hotel reservation, a return ticket. This is needed to understand the next steps and ask about the amount of money needed for your trip).
There are no more rules and restrictions for Hungarian citizens entering Ukraine.
