On this Weekend: SütniCake Pastry and Cake Festival

On November 8th and 9th, the hall of the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest will develop into a dessert shop. By organizing the first SütniCake Pastry and Cake Festival, the organizers would like to create an event where the best confectioners of our country can present their products to the visitors. The theme and the image of the first SütniCake Festival is Alice in Wonderland.

The idea of the SütniCake Pastry and Cake Festival was born from the view that although our country has a number of gastro-themed events, it still lacks an occasion representing primarily pastries and cakes. 30 exhibitors will take part in the event and in the competition, including the largest confectioneries and the small confectionery manufactures as well. Participation is by invitation, so that only the most prominent members of the profession can represent themselves. The organizers intend to make the occasion the most popular pastry and cake event in Hungary, traditionally organized every year.

Apart from traditional cakes, cupcakes, tartelettes, brownies, cake pops, and macarons will also be waiting for the sweet-toothed to taste them or take them home. The theme of the cake design competition is connected to the image of the event: Alice in Wonderland. The day before the event, with the help of the prestigious jury, the winner cake of the SütniCake will be chosen. The best creations of the cake design competition will be exhibited the entire time of the occasion.

Popular gastrobloggers’ spectacular performances are expected on the Gastro Stage, revealing some secrets to the audience. SütniCake will await visitors with programs and performances as well: cake decorating competition, the production of sugar lace and caramel decoration, macaron-show, and marzipan molding for kids. The programs will also include the special exhibition of the Museum of Applied Arts showing turn-of-the-century confectionery tools and items.

SütniCake Pastry and Cake Festival will be open 9:00-21:00 on November 8, and 9:00-20:00 on November 9. The price of admission is 2.200 HUF for adults and 1.500 HUF for students and pensioners. Admission is free for children under the age of 6.
