After the past weekend, when most parts of Hungary welcomed a large amount of snow, there is hope of it lasting until Christmas Day. With about a week left before the holidays and seeing the forecast for the following days, let us hope we will have a white Christmas at last.

Monday

Cold weather and snow can be expected from this Monday. From the West, the layer of clouds is likely to thicken, and we can expect the sky to remain cloudy all over. In some places, mostly in the South and the East, there is a chance of more snow falling. At night, temperatures can fall between -8 and -3 degrees (-12 and -9 where at snowed-in places) while during the day it is likely to stay between -3 and +2 degrees.

Tuesday

In the Western parts of the country, the thick blanket of clouds will let up a bit and the sun might shine through. However, in the East, the cloudy sky is likely to remain. There is still some chance of light snowing, mostly in the East. At night, the temperature is likely to fall between -8 and -2 degrees while during the day, it is likely to stay between -1 and +5 degrees.

Wednesday

Still not a lot of sunshine can be expected from the third day of the week. In some places, a thick fog is likely to linger, accompanied by some snowing and sleeting. In the South, the winds can pick up. At night, the temperature is likely to be between -6 and -2 degrees in cloudy places, and -11 and -6 in places with a thinner layer of clouds. During the day, the temperature is likely to stay between -3 and +2 degrees (though in places with constant fog, it can fall below -3 degrees).

Thursday

The thick blanket of clouds is still likely to hover over most of the country. In some places, the fog will not let up during the day – these places should prepare for some snow and sleet. In the South-East, the winds could pick up. At night, the temperature is likely to stay between -7 and -2 degrees while during the day, it will stay between -3 and +2 degrees.

Friday

We can expect a cloudy sky still, though the layers might get thinner as the day goes by. The snow of the previous days is likely to turn into rain and sleet. The temperature at night will be between -7 and -2 degrees while during the day, it will stay between -4 and +1 degrees.

The weekend

The trends of the week seem to be present over the weekend, too. The sky is likely to be cloudy and there is a chance of fog. Snow and rain should be expected in most parts of the country. The temperature at night will stay below 0 while during the day, it can rise up to +4 degrees.
