Budapest international airport passenger numbers reach record 10 million
Budapest, December 10 (MTI) – The number of passengers handled at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport has reached 10 million, a new record, since the beginning of the year.
In a ceremony greeting the ten-millionth passenger on Thursday, Jost Lammers, CEO of the airport’s operator, said that the airport saw nine million passengers last year and is expected to handle 10.3 million in 2015. This is a 13-percent increase, he added.
Preliminary estimates show a 5-6 percent increase over the coming years.
Lammers said passenger numbers at the airport could grow to 12 million in five years but that will require capacity increases, for which they already have approved plans.
