This is what Budapest’s super mall will look like!
Arena Mall Budapest could expand from its 42,000 square metres to 60,000 as the property manager submitted a request for expansion last December.
Symmetry Arena Ingatlankezelő Kft. has handed in a request to expand Budapest’s Arena Mall. If they go through with their plans, it could be Hungary’s biggest mall – which is currently Westend, reported Portfolio.
The 42,000-square-metre building could grow by 18,000 square metres according to plans and would get a two-storey underground garage, which would fit 500 cars.
In the enlarged mall, there would be new shops, restaurants, and entertainment as well as fitness services. According to HVG, only half – or 60 per cent maximum – of the area of three hectares would be used for the expansion. Work will begin in the second half of the year.
The Government Office of Pest County opened the environmental authority proceedings regarding the case last year on December 10.
According to the notice on their website, the most important parts of the project are:
- After the investment, the built-on area will grow to 60,980 square metres.
- The already existing and the planned garages will be built together, so the mall will have space for 3,326 cars.
- Construction could start in the second half of this year.
- Construction’s expected duration is two years.
The mall was purchased by a South African company in the fall of 2017.
