Coronavirus death toll exceeds 1,000 in Netherlands
The death toll from the novel coronavirus in the Netherlands increased by 175 to 1,039 on Tuesday, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) announced.
It’s the biggest single-day toll so far in the country, breaking the death toll of 132 last Sunday.
The number of positive tests in the country rose by 845 to 12,595, while the total number of patients who are or have been admitted to hospital increased by 722 to 4,712.
Later on Tuesday, the Dutch government will announce whether additional measures will be taken against the spread of the coronavirus for the forthcoming period.
