Kövér: The Arab culture is welcomed in Hungary
The Ethnographic Museum gave place to an excellent festival promoting the Arab culture and traditions where visitors could partake in the different lectures and exhibitions which could help them to get to know this exotic culture better. The event was opened by László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, globoport.hu writes.
Nureddin Benomar, ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, said that culture is the road and the bridge, with which nations can get closer to each other. The ambassador emphasized that the Arab Cultural Days is not about politics, but about culture, and traditions. However, he did mention the Palestinian issue, and said that it’s a “sacred issue” for Arab countries, which they will never forget.
The ambassador said that there’s a corner which rises above the others, and this is the Palestinian corner; he said he won’t let anyone talk dirty about the issue which means so much to the Arab countries.
The Arab Cultural Days was opened by László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, who said that the Arab culture is still the most important feature of Islam. Kövér praised the Muslim civilization, the religion of Islam, the Arab culture, and the Arab scientists, especially the discoveries of Arab mathematics. The politician also mentioned Ibn Ruszta explorer and geographer, who already called the people who occupied the Carpathian basin Hungarians (Magyar).
Kövér also emphasized that the Arab culture did not only help us in getting to know the past, but also helped shaping the future; the numbers exists in Europe thanks to the Arabs, without which it would be hard to live in a digital world, which is ruled by mobile phones and computers.
The politician ended his speech by quoting Mahatma Gandhi, who said “I want the cultures of all lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.”
