Budapest will join the annual Chairlift Night again on 15 July. That will give you a perfect opportunity to admire the marvellous night lighting of Hungary’s capital.
According to napi.hu, BKV, Budapest’s transport company, is to join the Chairlift Night event on 15 July again. The event will be organised in five additional cities in Hungary. The number of tickets is limited and available in the train museum in Budapest’s Deák Square. The Zugliget Chairlift is one of the most spectacular scenic chairlifts in Budapest.
Tram and parliament in the evening:
It is also Hungary’s first spanning 1040 metres, and the level difference between its two stations is 262 metres. You can travel close to Budapest’s highest peak, the János-hegy with it, and the journey is one of its kind.
Here is a video:
The chairlift operates whole year, but regularly, it closes at 7 PM. However, during the Chairlift Night, it will remain open until 1 AM on 16 July (the last call for travels will be at 0.30 AM). Thus, you can enjoy the night lighting of the marvellous Hungarian capital.
The return ticket costs HUF 4,000 (EUR 11) in advance. However, the number of tickets on sale is limited. You can buy it in the train museum of downtown’s scenic Deák tér, where you can also find the Budapest Eye. It is good to know that you can only pay in cash for the tickets, and travelling with the chairlift under the age of 3 is free.
You may reach the Zugliget Chairlift on Chairlift Night with bus nr 291 and retro line R158. The buses commute between Széll Kálmán Square and Zugliget. It will not stop anywhere during the journey, so you will get from A to B quickly since traffic is not heavy in the evening.
